How can we make the media report the truth?

They are journalists, they are supposed to keep us informed. Yet politics have gotten in the way. I dont like the idea of a bunch of people, spinning news stories to accomadate their personal agenda! These people have enormous influence on elections and such. Is the media running our country? I dont want a government solution(intrusion). Please answer without predjudice, just the media issue.....thanks.
